This course provides 7 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD Scheme of the Royal College of Radiologists.

This course is aimed at:

  • Foundation Year Doctors – especially those with an A&E attachment.
  • Applicants for radiology specialist training – As well as being a vital addition to your CV, the course will provide you with skills to tackle the imaging station in the interview process and provide tips for the application process.
  • Core Medical and Surgical Trainees will also find this course very useful.

When & where:

Annually in May and November in either a live lecture format in Hammersmith, London, UK or via Zoom Webinar format in accordance with government guidelines.

What will you cover:

  • All essential radiology topics
  • CXR (for example how to recognise lobar consolidation / collapse)
  • Heart failure
  • Interstitial lung disease and malignancies etc
  • AXR (e.g. SBO, LBO, volvulus, IBD, ascites)
  • A and E radiology (e.g. all types of fractures from top to toe!).
  • A short talk on how to apply for Radiology ST training.

What you will receive:

  • Talks by a dedicated team of enthusiastic radiology consultants;
  • PDF files of all lecture notes 5 days prior to the course (virtual webinar format);

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to tackle radiology confidently and effectively in day-to-day clinical practice, as a Foundation Year doctor or a Core Trainee doctor. If you are doing an A&E attachment, you do not have to attend a separate A&E radiology course, as we will cover all and more than you require for your A&E rotation.This course is extremely useful if you are considering applying for radiology ST training – and a short talk on this subject is made at the end of the day. CXR and AXR lectures will cover more than you will need or will encounter in your clinical practice and post-graduate exams.

The lectures will be interspersed with imaging quizzes to test what you have learnt. Lecture notes will be provided for all presentations, so you can concentrate on the lecture and not have to scribble furiously to keep a record.

We aim to lay a solid foundation of radiology knowledge and teach you the basics as well as the pathology, taking you methodically through each modality, and make you sound like an expert!

At the end of the course:

  • You will be confident at tackling x-rays and scans presented to you in clinical practice – whether you are doing A&E, medicine or surgery – and be able to impress your consultant and colleagues when presenting patients on the phone or during ward rounds.
  • You will be more self-assured when hauled in front of a MDT to present an x-ray or a scan.
  • You will be fully equipped to maximize your chance at being successful in the interviews for radiology specialist training and at dealing with imaging components of postgraduate membership exams.
